Building a Home to Last

Home in 1978 Home in 2015

In December 2015 when we were in Louisiana visiting family we took a drive out to see the first home Duane Clayton built. This home is beautifully situated on 50 acres. When we drove up the drive we saw that they were replacing the original metal roof. This is the roof that Duane had installed when he built the home 37 years ago! The house looks as beautiful today as it did on the day he finished it.

Duane reminisced back to when he was given the opportunity to help design and build this beautiful home and the many lessons he learned while building it. After all, he was only 17 years old. When he ordered the floor trusses wrong (his carpenter got a friendly chuckle out of that), he learned you always check twice before you order anything to the job. He learned how hiring the best subcontractors, people that are trustworthy and stay abreast of their trade, is the cornerstone of a contractor's buisiness. Classic Homes by Clayton is very fortunate to have such skilled and knowledgeable subcontractors.
