Green Home Site Selection
Did you know that building “West of the Trail” in Sarasota, Florida has its green home points already built in? The Florida Green Build Coalition uses a point system to determine the certification performance level of your green home.
Points are awarded for building on an existing infill lot. The close proximity to common resources such as medical, supermarkets, schools, mass transit, public parks and restaurants to name a few can also contribute to your score because you travel less distances to reach these services. Just being within a certified green local government will also add points to your ranking.
These are good reasons to purchase an existing home site in an established area of town.
